Here is clarification of NSG 7346 Paper 2 Assignment. Noted in the instructions and rubric for the 7346 Paper 2 Assignment is the use of two different core words, which are the words therapies and theories, respectively. Apologies for this discrepancy. The crux of the assignment is the same. Your interpretation of this assignment will be fine as long as you focus on the cultural biases and limitations, (the concepts for which are founded in research), that impact mental health care for the underrepresented populations.
Here is some guidance on the content. In review of the module’s learning materials, this assignment very much correlates with Chapter 30 Cultural Influences on Child and Adolescent Mental Health: Needs of Immigrant, Refugee, Displaced, and Culturally Vulnerable Youth in:
Yearwood, E. L., Pearson, G. S., & Newland, J. A. (2021). Child and adolescent behavioral health: A resource for advanced practice psychiatric and primary care practitioners in nursing (Second edition.). John Wiley & Sons, Inc. https://search.ebscohost.com/login.aspx?direct=true&AuthType=sso&db=cat00991a&AN=sth.on1159655892&site=eds-live&custid=s8475574
This includes the following Cultural Factors from this text:
Cultural Vulnerability
Intersectionality
Acculturation
Marginalization
Immigrant Paradox
Child Fostering
Transnationals
Discrimination
Implicit Bias
Poverty
Additional information can be found in Mental Health and Psychiatric Care: Effect of Culture in Help-Seeking, SECTION II: A DEVELOPMENTAL FRAMEWORK, 2.2 DIVERSE POPULATIONS in:
Martin, A., Bloch, M., & Volkmar, F. R. (2018). Lewis’s child and adolescent psychiatry: A comprehensive textbook (Fifth edition.). Wolters Kluwer. https://search.ebscohost.com/login.aspx?direct=true&AuthType=sso&db=cat00991a&AN=sth.on1012097928&site=eds-live&custid=s8475574
Feel free to further research these factors and use other scholarly resources. Always best to stay within a current five-year range if possible.
Here are some helpful writing points. Mechanics is worth 25 points, the same as the other three measured components in the grading rubric (attached). Organize information from learning and other scholarly resources that is pertinent to the assignment, doing so succinctly and in your own thoughts and words without altering the content meaning. The paper page limit is only 2-3 pages. This does not count the title or reference pages. Be mindful not to over-format with extra subtitles which take up unnecessary space, given the page limit. But rather, pay attention to the flow of and transitions between topics. Thus, the paper should be a clearly communicated and concisely organized intellectual discussion of the key points of the assignment as explained above. Avoid repetitious discussion, overelaborating, veering off on tangents, or lingering on any one topic. Follow APA rules from title page to reference list and all the in-between. Be mindful of prior feedback from past assignments. Before submitting your final work, measure your paper against the rubric; and review and edit your paper accordingly. In addition to the APA manual, here is a very useful online APA resource: https://owl.purdue.edu/owl/research_and_citation/apa_style/apa_formatting_and_style_guide/general_format.html
