2. Excluding the Vietnam War (1965-‘73), modern wars in US history include World War I (1914-‘18), World War II (1939-‘45), the Korean War (1950-‘53), the Persian Gulf War (1990-‘91), the Iraq War (2003-‘11), and the War in Afghanistan (2001-‘14).
For this assignment, you may not use any of the following topics: the Holocaust or the Nuremburg Trials, the atomic bomb, the internment of Japanese Americans during WWII, the Cold War, or the War on Terror.
5. As you develop your topic and research information on it, you will cultivate your own specific interests in it, which will help you establish the scope for your coverage of the topic. After all, you cannot realistically cover every conceivable piece of information on any given topic. Keep in mind that this is an informative essay. The purpose is not to argue a position on your topic; the purpose is to educate your audience. The focus will be on providing factual and credible information in a neutral manner.
You must use at least six scholarly sources; these are scholarly books or peer-reviewed, academic journal articles or essays in edited, academic collections.
3. You must use at least four reference sources; these are articles in encyclopedias, government documents, interviews, etc. I strongly recommend using Credo Reference and Encyclopedia Britannica through our Library. Wikipedia will not be accepted as a reference source for this essay.
