What is an outline?
The purpose of this assignment is to create an outline to help you plan Writing Assignment 1. Outlining your paper before you write it gives direction to your thoughts. It allows you to create a “skeleton” of your paper before filling it in with details and explanations. Outlines typically use an “alphanumeric” listing system to organize ideas into paragraphs or sections of an essay, with space to include some detail.
Outlining your Narrative Essay:
The main sections to include in this essay are:
The introduction
The rising actions (there will probably be two or more of these)
The climax
The resolution
The “lessons learned” or “commentary.”
Under each section, you should use the “tab” key to create a layer or two of sub points that articulate some of the details of that section.

Submit:
Use these 5 main sections to map out your ideas for each section of your paper. Under each of the main sections, include at least two thorough bullet points/sub points indicating main points of your paper. The more thorough, the better. Use the example above as a model–yours may look different than mine, but try to include that much detail.
***Remember, everything is editable; if you want to change anything later on, that is 100% okay. Think of this as your opportunity to begin–almost like a “shitty first draft” that can be edited and revised if needed when you’re ready.
