Case studies are useful where critical thinking and problem solving skills are necessities, such as in social work. This case study will give you an opportunity to look at a vignette example on which to practice your skills of critical analysis and assessment.
In your analysis your responses must consider the following:
(1) the Florida Statute(s)that pertains to the case,
(2) assessment of the abuse,
(3) identify and assess the risk and protective factors in the case,
(4) an assessment of the family system,
(5) the possible impact that the abuse will have on the living child’s development,
(6) assessment of the interventions, and
(7) some ideas about how you would have handled the case for a better outcome. PLEASE USE HEADINGS THAT SPEAK TO THESE TOPICS. Example: “Florida Statutes” or “Risk and Protective Factors.” Be specific and utilize the rubric attached when completing your paper.
The assignment should be a minimum of 6 pages (not including cover page or reference page). No more than 7 pages (or you will get points off). Written in APA style: please be sure you include a cover page, introduction, main body, conclusion, and reference page. No abstract page is needed. You will receive points off if you are missing required criteria.

The paper DOES NOT use the questions provided as headings with responses after the heading. (lose 5 points)
Not citing work appropriately or correctly. (lose 5 points)

1. Red flags of abuse, neglect, and/or abandonment observed in the case
2. Specific maltreatments indicated in the case (use your Allegation Matrix)
3. Include all intervention sources provided in story
4. Utilize textbook, reading material, and lectures to assist in critical thinking
5. Use your rubric for this assignment to assist you in following directions for the assignment so you do not get unnecessary points off.
Make sure to integrate information from your textbook and cite appropriately.
Use critical thinking in this assignment and do not recount the story in answering your questions. The idea is to critically analyze the case, the interventions, and other aspects of the case. Base your answers on the facts in the story, but DO NOT RETELL THE STORYLINE.
For example: There are many risk factors observed in the case pertaining to both Samantha and her brother, Henry. Crosson-Tower (2008), states for example children are at risk to be abused when they are not bonded with the parents or caregivers (p. 65). Samantha was born a vulnerable child due to her medical condition and extensive hospitalization away from her biological parents, who were illicit drug users.
