Identify and define/describe at least five (5) concepts that you will measure in

April 22, 2024

Identify and define/describe at least five (5) concepts that you will measure in your content analysis.  One or two of these concepts can be used to categorize the content by source (i.e. which tv station- ABC, NBC, CNN, etc. or newspaper- LA Times, NY Times, Washington Post, etc.).  Other concepts should relate to the specific research question(s) you are interested in exploring, such as the portrayal of the offender or victim, description of the incident, words or images used, etc. Refer to Part 1 when you discussed what you’d like to learn about your research question.
Operationalize your concepts (see example below).
Write AT LEAST 7 questions to measure the concepts listed in your research question.  These questions are how you will collect data about what your content says in a way that you can quantify so you can answer your research question.
Some of your concepts will require multiple measures; you may want more than seven to get the most useful research findings. No more than 2 of your 7 questions should be content identifiers (i.e. date of article video, news source, title, season/episode number)
Include all attributes when appropriate (i.e. answer choices).  You may need to think about what are the potential answers you expect to see when analyzing the content
Include descriptions of how you will categorize information (i.e. if how will you know if a news story is positive or negative?  What indicators will you look for?  Tone? Images? Words used?) Refer to the Survey Questions module for help writing good questions.
Identify the level of measurement for each measure (nominal, ordinal, interval, ratio)
Analyze one piece of content from your sample (i.e. one article, video, or show that you found in Part 2) by answering the questions you created above for your measures.
List the questions/answers for each measure of the piece of content you analyzed.  Note any problems/issues you had in answering the questions and any potential revisions you needed to make.
Please include a link and/or citation for the piece of content you analyzed for this assignment.
You can add the measures/answers to your Excel/Google Sheet with your Sample since this is where you’ll be continuing your analysis for Part 4)
