Introduction: The art world has sparked controversy throughout history. This assignment will require you to choose one of the artworks listed below, conduct research, and then prepare a presentation examining the controversy surrounding the artwork. Use the rubric at the bottom of this page to guide the development of your presentation, focusing on what sparked controversy about your selected artwork and your perception of this work.

2. Conduct research about the artwork you selected. Use at least two valid and credible sources for research. It is recommended that you utilize the WCCCD Learning Resource Centers. Wikipedia is not a credible source for research.
3. Prepare a presentation of at least SIX slides including audio and visual components. Some suggestions to create this presentation:
Create a Microsoft PowerPoint and use the Insert>Audio feature for each slide. Save it as .mp4 (which is a video file).
Use Google Slides. This will require you to create and save audio in separate files and then insert into the slides. Make sure to share your Google show so your instructor has access.
Create a slideshow using any option and then download the free Chrome Screencastify app extension. This will allow you to record your screen and yourself talking at the same time. Save as a video and upload to Blackboard.
Create a YouTube video and upload the link.
Use Loom.com to create a video presentation and upload the link.
These are not your only options but rather the most frequently used by students. Once you complete and save your presentation, upload it to the Blackboard link above.
Title Slide–Title Slide (identify your name and your selected artwork)
Image-Image, or active link to an image, of the artwork
Artist Biography–Brief history of the artist, to include whether or not they typically created controversial works.
Controversy–Identify the response to this artwork when it was created. Why did it create a controversy? Who found the work to be controversial? What was the result of the controversy (e.g., Serra’s Tilted Arc was removed)?
What is your response to the artwork? Attempt to utilize terminology/concepts from the course. Discuss whether you believe the artwork would be controversial in contemporary times. Offer supporting evidence.
Works Cited–Works Cited in Modern Language Association (MLA) style; at least two academic sources
Mechanics–Audio and visual components included. At least six slides included. No spelling, grammatical, or punctuation errors.
