Write a 4 page paper on an irksome argument (Already pre-selected by me) about the New York Knicks. See below attached files but this is what I have so far:
The other day my brother and I had an argument about our favorite sports team the New York Knicks. He said they are a championship team right now with their current roster. He stated they didn’t need another star and if anything just needed a couple of more role players. I strongly disagreed with him for many reasons and couldn’t believe he actually thought that. I watch every game and I like to think that I know a thing or two about the Knicks. I told him that with the current team, they are at best the 4th best team just in their conference. I followed up with showing him the last 10 nba finals winners and what seed they were. Hint hint, none of them were the 4 seed or lower. I showed him the pattern and he started to believe me until he started coming up with irrelevant points such as, they aren’t playing as good as they can and wait until they go on a hot streak. These points held no value considering we are well of into the NBA season and there has been plenty of time to go on a hot streak.
This isn’t to say they are a bad team. I think they are a very good and exciting team but they certainly aren’t a championship-caliber team. I told my brother they are one superstar player away from being a contender. I don’t see any other way besides pure luck for them to go to such great heights. His next point he brought up was the 2004 Detroit Pistons which had no all-stars when they won the NBA finals. He was very proud about this point but again I didn’t think it was a valid argument. I told him that in that time period, the game of basketball was so much different than today’s game. The amount of scoring that happens now combined with a complete style change means you can’t compare the two. Next, I said that even back then, the Pistons team was an anomaly. No other team during that time period was winning finals without star players. Ultimately, at the end of the argument, we both agreed to disagree; the same views we went in with were the same ones we came out with. There is no evidence to support that the Knicks can win a championship with their current roster, if they add one it will only benefit their chances at a title.
