I find that this course was challenging for me in a good way. This is my last course that I must take for me to graduate. I enjoyed every lesson in the class. At times I wish I was able to take this class before I took some of my previous classes. Learning the different materials on grammar, APA formatting and much more. It would have helped me write better papers in my previous classes. The classes before had broad lessons about grammar and APA formatting. It didn’t dive deep in the lessons like this class lessons did.
What I like about the class the most is the process that was given to write out final paper. Each week loading up to our final paper we had an assignment that would help make our final paper mistake free. From the first assignment writing the annotated bibliography to writing the outline. Both of those assignments helped me write a solid final paper. I used my annotated bibliography to find sources and vital information to help me brainstorm. Then I created my outline which I think was the most important assignment in the class. The reason I said that is because the outline gives you a structure to follow. When I write I must use a structure to write a good paper. I have tried many times to write a paper without having a structure. It took me loner to write, and I found that I had multiple errors when doing it. When I was writing without an outline, I was just free writing. Any thought that came to my head I wrote in it the paper not properly placing where it should go. What I found extremely interesting is how in depth the lessons were in each week. It was information in the lesson that was vital to the assignment for that week. Then if I had any questions, I could look at an example of the content that was in that week lesson. Having an example of the information is important. That usually answers all the questions that I have with the information. I think that the Professor was fair with the grading of the assignments and how quickly the assignments were returned.
If I could change anything in the class, it would be the description of each assignment. For me the annotated bibliography assignment could have been explained better. I believe that the description of what the Professor wanted was a little misunderstanding to understand. I follow the directions on the assignment, but I didn’t receive the best grade. It would have been wonderful if we could have gotten a checklist like the final paper that would have helped tremendously.
I understand the university’s dishonest and plagiarism policy per the student handbook. I have read over all forms of the different types of cheating. I agree any form of dishonesty doesn’t have a place in higher education. Professor Elg did a wonderful job instructing the class. I will recommend this class to future students.
