Case study involves a female student in the 6th grade in a South Georgia rural middle school. Student is age 11. She has struggled in reading since primary school. She has been served in Response to Intervention classes twice weekly for 50 minutes since 2019 where the intervention has been through the Read 180 program. It is an adaptive program that she works in as well as receiving small group instruction in that reading intervention class. She is making gains in Lexile level, but continues to struggle with grade level content. A plan needs to be made to support her learning and to address her reluctance to read even at her Lexile level Her Lexile is still two grades below 6th grade level. She struggles with a focusing issue as well. She has never taken medication. She rushes through work.has lack of effort because of frustration she feels towards reading. State testing for the past 3 years shows that she is at the Beginnig level in English Language Arts as well as Mathematics. In analysis of assessments and classroom performance, student should likely be referred for testing for a potential learning disability.
