There is a sample research paper in your Little Seagull Handbook on page 192. Even though the sample paper covers a literary work that we did not read in class, it still provides a good example of the structure of a research paper.
First, review the Paper #3 Materials carefully.
After reviewing the Paper #3 Materials, write a one – sentence summary of each of the literary works from unit three. Please see the list of literary works below.
List of Literary Works from Unit Three:
-“Pied Beauty” (found under Week 5 Materials)
-“God’s Grandeur” (found under Week 5 Materials)
-The Metamorphosis (found under Week 4 Materials)
-Trifles (found under Week 4 Materials)
-“The Road Not Taken” (found under Week 5 Materials)
-“Sonnet 60” (found under Week 5 Materials)
Reread your answers from #1. Choose a literary work from the list above for your paper. In one sentence, describe why you have chosen this work.
Choose one prompt from the document labeled “English 1102 Prompts for Paper #3 and Paper #4” (found in Paper #3 Materials in the module), and center it around the literary work that you have chosen.
Formulate a specific research question from the prompt that you have chosen.
Formulate a specific thesis statement. Your thesis should be one sentence that includes your topic and argument.
