Hello,
I want a discussion post and a response post as well. The discussion post has to be 900 words maximum and response post has to be 300-400 words at least. I am attaching the prompt and template. I will attach what I want the response for as well.
PROMPT / CONSIDERATION:
We get it, life is about communication and so is business. Google “Communications Process Model”. Select
a graphic that you believe does a good job explaining the basics of
communications. Briefly review that model in your comprehensive TDA
post. Include some discussion on what “noise” is and how that adversely
affect effective communications. Examples are expected. Lastly,
discuss how selective perception affects the process of meaningful
mutual understanding.
Be direct and use examples. Citations expected. Use the skills you are reading about to help you frame a detailed essay response.
Here’s the post I want the response for:
What’s It All About?
The communications process model refers to the elements and steps
that are involved in successful transmission and understanding of
message between the sender and the receiver. The process includes the
exchange of ideas, opinions, emotions, and information, it involves
continuous feedback that allows constant adjustments. Because of this it
requires active listening, relevance, clarity, and the understanding of
perspectives of both the sender and the receiver. The communication
process is used amongst companies every day to ensure that proper
understanding, execution, and clarity of information is transmitted as
it should to ensure the proper tone of what is being delivered.
What’s It All Mean?
The communication process cycle is a continuous and dynamic sequence
of stages involved in the successful exchange of messages between a
sender and a receiver (ClearInfo). The communication model is designed
to help one get a visual understanding of how communication works.
Within the communication process is the relationship between the sender
and the receiver, this relationship requires both parties to actively
engage in the form of exchanging messages with a clear understanding.
The diagram shown it gives a clear example of how the process works,
first the message is sent to the receiver where it is then decoded, this
means that the information is about to be interpreted. The receiver
then provides the necessary feedback in response to the senders’ initial
message which now has started the interaction between these two
parties.
The presence of noise in the communication process is anything that
interferes with the interpretation of the message that is being sent and
decoded by the receiver (ElectronicDesk). We use the communication
model for just about all of our communication exchanges in our
day-to-day lives which provides a great example of why the structure of a
message matters to cancel out any noise that may interfere when sending
to the receiver.
Selective perception is the unconscious process by which people
screen, select, and notice objects/words in their environment. During
this process, information tends to be selectively perceived in ways that
align with existing attitudes, beliefs, and goals (Calmsage). What this
means is that we have the ability to consciously or unconsciously
ignore certain stimuli as we perceive things that surround us. In the
setting of communication whether it’d be through email, text message, or
in person it is important as the sender to construct the message in a
clear, organized, and professional manner and as the receiver it is
important to not let selective perception get in the way of a clearly
constructed response.
Why Does Anyone Care?
Communication is the key element to success in any relationship
whether it’d be business, friendly, or romantic relationships.
Understanding and applying the communications model as well as not
allowing selective perception or any noise to interfere with the
response to the conversation is destined to eliminate any means for
confusion. When taking all of these elements into consideration and
applying them into different forms of communication especially in a
business environment this will greatly improve the work setting allowing
communication to flow efficiently and effectively as well as improving
any work relationships making the workplace more enjoyable and at ease.
What To Do/ Fix/ Change?
What needs to be done and changed is implementing this model and the
pros of it in a business setting. It seems that throughout many
businesses’ communication is a common problem. If these businesses take
the time to conduct a meeting showing the communications model along
with explaining what noise is and give examples of this while leading
into the explanation of selective perception, then I strongly believe
that if the communication in the workplace will drastically improve.
