As you continue to work on your Patient Safety Brochures, please make sure to include your local resources. And please be SPECIFIC!
What is in your own community where patients can access information? Some examples are listed on the image. You need to obtain the full information for the patients for the brochure, and this may require you to call a local resource to see what they offer. Brochures without this information will be graded down.
Make sure your brochures has AT LEAST 2 LOCAL resources that have the:
- Full name of the resource/service
- Description of service provided
- Physical address
- Phone number
Example:
- Name: James L. Brute Senior Center
- Resource: Tai Chi exercise class for balance every Friday at 2 pm
- Location: 11200 Baseline Road, Rancho Cucamonga, 91701
- Phone: (909) 477-2780
This assignment is a brochure that could be printed out and handed to a patient. You can add in internet links, but DO NOT only add the internet link, you will need to have the full contact information as listed above. Remember that not all patients have internet access or know how to use the internet.
Create a pamphlet using any type of publisher software you choose to educate clients on a current patient safety issue.
For example:
- How aging adults can care for themselves at home
- Medication–polypharmacy and how a patient cannot make a self-medication error,
- Or other appropriate safety issues.
Your pamphlet must include the following items:
- At least five tips for preventive care for the patient.
- Information that should be shared with family or caregivers.
- Local resources in the community that might be available for this type of safety concern.
- At least three APA-formatted references published within the last five years.
I will include an example of the pamphlet.
