The completion of this assignment will also demonstrate your ability to correctly utilize GALILEO, EBSCO Host, AND/OR Google Scholar to research and document academic sources as well as your ability to successfully utilize MLA format.

You will write a Literary Research Paper in MLA Format over the novel Ethan Frome by Edith Wharton using the below topic prompt:
In the novel Ethan Frome by Edith Wharton, a primary theme is isolation (physical and mental) is depicted.
After presenting your personal interpretation of isolation, research and choose three real-life issues or events that demonstrate the devastating effects of isolation (as defined by you).
These events may be local, regional, national, or global. (Covid Pandemic, social media, lifestyles, goals, financial status, age)
Compare and contrast each of these real-life individuals or events to one character in the novel in terms of their isolation, actions taken to overcome the isolation, and effects of those actions.
You must use a minimum of one quote EACH from three (3) secondary sources (full-text articles from GALILEO, EBSCO Host, AND/OR Google Scholar) and one (1) primary source (the primary source for this paper is the novel My Antonia).
All quotes should be properly cited using in-text citations along with a correctly formatted Works Cited page.
Secondary sources MUST come from full-text articles found in GALILEO, EBSCO Host, AND/OR Google Scholar. Use of secondary sources such as Wikipedia, blog posts, message boards, and web pages are inappropriate for this level of research and will not be considered a secondary source.

*Avoid using second person you and your as second person is not considered academic writing – use of the pronoun you will count off as one error under style/mechanics for each time it is used in the assignment.
*I pronoun – avoid using the pronoun I except in the case of the narration essay.
Avoid the following phrases: [in conclusion], [to wrap things up], [in my opinion], [I believe], [I feel], [in today’s day and age], [in today’s society], [since the dawn of time], [to be honest], and [if you ask me].
A well-written paragraph consists of seven to twelve sentences. Anything less will result in a three-point deduction for each sentence less than seven (e.g. a 5-sentence paragraph will automatically lose six points because it does not have at least seven sentences).
