Choose one of the stories or poems we have studied up to this point in the semester, and analyze one of the major themes in the work using a critical literary theory we have been studying.
Create an argument based thesis. Your thesis must be debatable! See the critical articles we’ve practicing with for homework to get examples of how to write an argument based thesis. Also, carefully review the essay prep materials.
Requirements
Minimum of 1000 words (approx. 4 typed pages)
MLA format with proper heading and title Review MLA Format HereLinks to an external site.
Works Cited page (the works cited page does not count toward the essay’s page count– it is extra)
2-4 research sources properly quoted or paraphrased with correct use of parenthetical references
Attention to essay structure, development, grammar and style techniques
Evidence of a focus on specific literary theory
Evidence of specific elements of fiction as they support the thesis and main ideas of the essay
Turn in your detailed outline with your rough draft.
