As the capstone course, students are expected to engage the knowledge and research skills acquired throughout the program to comprehensively address a challenge in justice administration. This will require students to identify a current problem in their career field, and conduct (1) analyses of current and alternative policies, and (2) review agencies and programs, processes and activities directly involving these policies. The policy analysis and program management review will address the missions, goals, objectives, management and organizational aspects of agencies involved or affected by the policy or program you choose to review. It will include consideration of organizational structures, external and internal functions, and processes that are implicated or impacted by policies and programs you have chosen to review.
All papers should be written following APA format (see http://barton.libguides.com/citations/apaLinks to an external site.). All submissions must be uploaded by the due date assigned. Research papers must be at least 20 (but should not exceed 30) pages in length, not counting the title page or reference list. Research papers must be double-spaced. Additional details will be made available.

I have chosen the topic of “Mental Health Crisis Response in Law Enforcement” for my capstone project. This topic is of particular interest to me as I have heard the challenges that law enforcement officers face when responding to individuals experiencing mental health crises.
