The first step in the Research Process asks you to locate your own cultural artifact, or primary source, that you will analyze. Remember, as with the examples provided during the Research Essay Practice, you should be thinking in terms of pieces of culture (music videos, short films, poems, etc.) that raise important issues you want to explore. For this proposal, YOU ARE NOT MAKING AN ARGUMENT YET. Rather, the goal at this stage is simply to provide a deep and detailed (what English studies call “thick”) description of the cultural artifact you’ve chosen to analyze. Your description should include all the important details needed to understand what your cultural artifact is. For this assignment, you will provide: 1 page description of your chosen cultural artifact (REMEMBER: you are choosing your own object of analysis. The only choices off limits are the ones offered during last week’s Research Essay Practice which are , “kendrick lamar , alright” , “negative space , a filmed by tiny inventions” , and “bad bunny, where she goes” ) 3 Research Questions. What are you going to explore about your chosen cultural artifact? What do you find strange, interesting, or revealing? 1 MLA citation for a possible external source Ultimately your paper will require at least four (4) external sources. For this proposal you only need to locate one that you can work with during the CRAAP Method Source Assessment
