The following is the CASE STUDY PROPOSAL TOPIC I TURNED IN FOR THE WEEK
Hi everyone! I will be glad to present the work that I have done on one of the organs of the government, the Child Protective Services (CPS) agency in New York. Regarding child welfare, the state and local governments are not only inter-sectional with the services for social assistance, laws, and regulations but also co-exist within the public policy structure (UN, 2024). My interest in this topic developed from personal reasons as I have had many family members work as healthcare workers under CPS, which can be some of the hardest and most complicated jobs in our community.
Child Protective Services is the acting entity that protects the interests of children and family members who are exposed to domestic child abuse in one form or another. My study is interested in examining the existing policies, implementation methods, and problems posed by CPS agencies, mainly focusing on the reverse side of the truth between child safety and family security. I intend to trace the historical development of CPS in New York, which has experienced a variety of law- and policy-related changes that have been the basis for the current framework and performances.
In addition, I will handle an area which concerns the effect of federal commands and subsidies on the running of CPS at the state and local government levels. Analyzing federalism’s role in child welfare policies is imperative for grasping the inter-workings of the state board.
From this study, I envisage learning what CPS models work best, the inequity in service provision across geographic areas, and the role of community stakeholders in assisting vulnerable families. By showing the strengths and weaknesses of the city of New York’s CPS system, my study aspires to contribute to the ongoing debate on improving the town to achieve radiant of better outcomes for children and families in the New York CPS system.
I look forward to reading the rest of everyone’s proposals and continue my research and expand my knowledge on the CPS system in New York State.

Track II –
Case study focusing on a social program or agency.
This track is meant to permit research on a program or agency you may have a personal or professional interest in studying.
For example, parents with a child diagnosed with autism may wish to examine the federal and state programs that address social or educational services for afflicted children.
Persons interested in gun violence, criminal justice, environmental issues, child protective services, substance abuse treatment programs, public higher education, immigration, and public housing are general areas that may be explored in a research project.
Specific programs, policies or laws may also be selected for study: Common Core, Obamacare, The Safe Act, Hydrofrackling Policy, American Disabilities Act may serve as the focus of research and writing. Practically any public policy issue that depicts the relationships between the federal government and state and local government is likely to be approved.
The topics for Track II are essentially unlimited, but all topics must be approved by the instructor.

The completed final research paper is due on the last day of classes for the term.
