The goal of the Informative Speech is to explain, illustrate, or further develop the knowledge of your audience regarding a particular concept.
For this major speech for the session, you will present a speech of explanation.
You will teach the class about the most important issue facing high school seniors which my topic is “TO INFORM THE CLASS ABOUT THE IMPACT BEING REJECTED FROM COLLEGE HAS ON SELF-ESTEEM”. The goal of the speech is for the class to understand what matters most to graduating seniors as the begin to enter a brand new segment of their lives.
Through the use of research, your speech will “teach” the class about the issue. You are not taking in a stand in this speech or providing solutions. You’re merely providing background to topics that you believe are issues of concern.
You must consider the needs of your audience when preparing for this speech. Recall class discussion which centered on not providing information to the class that they already know. You may want to consider having a speech about something that is new to the class or provide more information that what the average student in our class believe they already know.
The goal of this speech is not to just know about your subject. You want to develop the audience’s knowledge through the use of narrative, analogies, examples, illustrations, etc. In the end, the audience should clearly relate to your speech. The presentation outline must be no more than two pages double-spaced. The speech will be four minutes minimum and six minutes maximum. This speech will be graded upon the principles of informative speaking (as discussed in class and in the text), ethical speaking, audience, introduction and conclusions, and outlines.
