The purpose of this assignment is to explore the concepts of “at promise youth”

April 20, 2024

The purpose of this assignment is to explore the concepts of “at promise youth” vs. “at risk youth”. Be sure to submit you assignment by 11:59pm on Sunday
Step 1: Be sure to read the “Teen Risk Taking” on pages 4 and 5 of Chapter 1.
Step 2: View the short ted talk by Dr. Victor Rios. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hHOX3dlhhZ0
Dr. Rios is a professor, author, and former high school drop-out and juvenile delinquent. His research examines how racism, inequality, and class play a role in determining if a person will be successful in education.
Step 3: This assignment includes two parts. First you will develop a written response to both “critical thinking” questions, and next you will complete the “writing assignment” essay. The prompts are included on page 5 of the required text.
Be sure to include examples from Dr. Rios’s TedTalk and consider the concept of at promise vs. at risk in your discussion.
2-3 Type-Written Pages, Use 12pt Times New Roman Font, Double Space, Your First and Last Name only at the top right hand corner, paragraph formatting (no need to number your responses or restate the questions posed in the text)
Please Note: The written assignment (essay) that you will complete this week is reflective, but what you share depends solely on your comfort. Be sure to review the Reflective Essay Sample” that I provided in this week’s module. Feel free to use it as a guide.
