Drug Research Assignment(40 points)
“Research the effects of a drug encountered in society or used for treatment of any disease condition.” (Valium for anxiety)
1. Introduction/ objective–Write or describe why you choose the drug & what disease or condition is the drug intended to treat? Describe this condition in terms of pathophysiology, specifically the content necessary to understand the drug and its mode of action(4 Points)
2. Please include chemical structure & how its structure influences the absorption, distribution, & preferred route of administration(3 pts).
3. Describe in detail the mode/mechanism of action of the drug. Be sure to incorporate information that pertains to anatomy and physiology. It is very important that you relate the information in your presentation to the material covered in class(4pts).
4. Describe potential adverse effects of the drug & how choice of a different drug can minimize the prevalence of side effects(2 pts).
5. Finally include a conclusion at the end with results of your research(findings) along with other factssummarizing the main points of your paper/ presentation(5 pts).
References & in text citation (15 pts)- Use total four different scholarly or professional sources outside of the text (OK to use your text, you will just need three additional sources) and reference them using APA(American Psychological Association) format. Earn 2points for appropriate reference list (need minimum of 4, total 8 points). Earn 3 points for proper format in text citation and 3 points for proper citation in the reference list. Two points(2 points) will be given based on writing style: paragraph and sentence structure, punctuation, spelling, etc.
6. In text Citation (5 points)—Use of proper citation in your write up in APA style will allow you to get full points for this part. Select authentic resources for your paper from NWACC website & learn how to cite them in your paper as references for yourresearch work.
For example the following two references needed to be used as (Honda & Kabashima, 2019) and ( Martini et al., 2015)inside your paper. This is an example of APA style citation.

Select at least 2-3 print source (book or medical journal, e-versions acceptable) and can use 1 internet source. Sources must come from respected medical/nursing literature. Medical websites, journals and texts are suitable. Note: Wikipedia is not an acceptable source. Your write up should e 1.5 spaced & minimum 3 pages long, excluding the cover page & reference list.
