In the first part of the paper, you need to provide a review of the literature on the concept or theory that you have chosen. Feel free to use course textbooks as sources, however, you must cite and discuss a minimum of six additional sources (other than Cialdini or Stiff and Mongeau) that focus on your particular topic or theory. In the second part of the paper, you are to analyze a specific persuasive or influence attempt (or attempts) from the perspective of the selected course theory or concept you reviewed. The persuasive or influence attempt could be something that you directly experienced or observed. If the attempt comes in print form (e.g., a magazine or newspaper advertisement), you should provide a copy or link (or a detailed description) with your paper. If the persuasive attempt is not available in print form (e.g., an interaction you engaged in or observed), you must describe it in sufficient detail that individuals not involved will understand it. A very important component of the second part of the paper is that you are to analyze the attempt from the perspective of that theory or concept. Given the theory or concept, why and how would you expect the attempt to be persuasive?
Your paper should be 8-10 pages of text (not including a cover page, references, etc.), word-processed, double-spaced, having 1-inch margins on all sides, and 12-point Times New Roman font. The citation of sources and reference list for this paper should be consistent with the 7th edition of the APA (American Psychological Association) Style Manual.
The review/analysis paper is worth 100 points. Grading will follow several criteria.
The first criterion is the quality of the literature review provided. This will include the depth of the definition and coverage of the concept/theory under consideration.
The second criterion is the quality of the definitions of the topic(s) under consideration.
The third criterion is the relevance and quality of the application of the course material.
