Task Description
Please write a 1,500 words (+/- 10% ) reflective report  in Microsoft format ,excluding any tables, graphs, charts, footnotes and Appendices. The Reflective Reports must be uploaded to Moodle by the published deadline (see Moodle) which will be after the final seminar.
The report is a reflection on the student’s individual involvement in the team project and should provide a critical synthesis of a minimum of 5 academic sources (i.e., academic journal articles, preferably, with DOI numbers; chapters in edited books; or monographs).
Deadline: Please see on the Moodle page of the module.
The Reflective Report will be assessed by the Seminar Leader. However, to further promote the practice of co-assessment, students are encouraged to include an assessment of their own report as an Appendix. If provided, this will be considered by the Seminar Leader in his or her assessment. The Reflective Report will be assessed according to the following criteria:
Understanding of module issues and concepts (40%)
Expression and reasoning, including use of appropriate examples (40%)
Effort and attention to detail (20%)
The Reflective Reports must comply with IBS rules on Referencing and Plagiarism.
The Word Count must be indicated on the cover page of the Report.
Papers shorter than 1,350 and longer than 1,650 words lose 10 points. Papers shorter than 1,000 words fail automatically. Papers where there are two or three discrepancies between the references used in and after text receive 0% on “Effort and attention to detail”. Papers where there are four or more discrepancies between the references used in and after text fail automatically. Papers that do not contain a minimum of five (5) academic sources fail automatically. Academic sources are academic journal articles, preferably, with DOI numbers; chapters in edited books; and monographs. Poor academic practice (e.g., quoting directly from sources that exceeds 10% of the paper) will result in automatic fail.
The resit arrangement for the assignment is the same as above; you may resubmit the same paper, with corrections, that you submitted by the original deadline. The resubmission deadline will be specified on Moodle after the grades for the original submission are published.
Academic conduct notice
Harvard-style referencing needs to be used consistently throughout. Incomplete referencing shall result in reporting the case to the Academic Conduct Officer, who keeps a record of such violations. First offenders may resubmit their papers and may receive 40% (BSc) / 50% (MSc) at most. Repeated violations of academic standards shall be sanctioned in line with the plagiarism regulations as detailed in the Student Handbook.
Where the Academic Conduct Officer has reason to suspect that a piece of work submitted by a student was wholly or in part written by someone other than the student who submitted it, and this has not been disclosed by the student, they may call for the student to defend the work in a viva or a written comprehension test. The burden of proof in such a viva or test will be upon the student to demonstrate to the examination panel’s satisfaction his/her full comprehension of the work s/he has submitted. Failure to appear without satisfactory explanation will result in immediate failure of that assessment, with consequences of academic misconduct and application of sanctions.
d) Grading
The Reflective Report will be assessed by the Seminar Leader. However, to further promote the practice of co-assessment, students are encouraged to include an assessment of their own report as an Appendix.
