Your analysis should be in a presentation format. You would create it as if you were presenting, but this would be an individual assignment. Since this is a presentation format, make sure you format it accordingly. You could still answer each question as #1, #2, etc.
This case focuses on branding, advertising and growth strategies. I want you to put your CEO hats on and pretend that you are presenting to investors to request significant funding to grow Pokemon:
Question #1: How did Pokemon evolve? Here you might want to consider creating a timeline, and which key stakeholders contribute to its success throughout the years? What were some of the pivotal points that took the Company/business to the next level? Any other insights that you’d like to point out to convey to your key stakeholder (aka investors) that Pokemon have had a good track record.
Question #2: What’s Pokémon’s vision? Principles? Mission? Have they adhered to them through the years? If so, in what way, if not, where do you think they deviated and in what ways (examples of products launches, for example)? What’s their current situation (please complete a Porter’s Five Forces).
Question #3: How did technology play in how Pokemon evolved over the years? How about market and consumers trends, and other external forces, such as lifestyle changes, alternatives? Generation gaps? Hint, think about how you would frame your analysis to answer this question.
Question #4: If you were to rebrand Pokemon in 2023, what would be the tagling(s)? Vision and Mission statements? How would you (or not) change what Pokemon stands for, in other words? Would you target a different segment of the market? How would you stay relevant (trend versus fad).
Question #5: As the CEO of Pokemon, standing in front of investors asking them to invest for a year over year growth rate of 20% what would be your recommendations? I would like to think about the future of technology (1, 3 and 5 years from now), and how Pokemon might leverage these technologies to take the company to the next level. How about anticipated shift in consumer behavior? Who would that play into your recommendations? What would you recommend in terms of product and distribution channels (don’t worry about pricing and promotions).
