This invention assignment has multiple steps and should result in a text that includes multimodal elements from your target organization and a preliminary discussion of your findings. Compose your assignment in such a way that your instructor will easily be able to locate each of the required components (by labeling them with headings, for example).
Step 1: Describe the Business or Organization You Have Chosen
Start by reviewing the data you have so far along with any notes you have taken.
Draft a one-paragraph description (approximately 200 words) of the business or organization you have chosen. Include consideration of what they offer, how they advertise and communicate, and the role they play within your local community. Keep in mind the guidelines discussed in the Profile Project Description, as well as any other guidance your instructor has given. Spend at least 20-30 minutes thinking carefully, reflecting, and listing before drafting this paragraph.

Step 2: Apply the Concepts from the Rhetorical Situation Reading
Study the materials you have collected and use the concepts from the Rhetorical Situation reading (writer, purpose, audience, context, genre, and message) to begin making sense of your data. Consider the following questions as you compose content for this step:
Who is the writer or composer of the data you’ve collected?
What purpose do you see the business or organization pursuing in the materials you have collected? What are they trying to achieve?
What audience are they trying to reach?
What is the context for the stance are they taking with those materials? What is the immediate context? What is the broader context?
What is the message, or the main product or service of the business or organization? What media are they using to communicate and how? Are they posting memes on social media? Videos on Facebook? Are they creating TikTok videos?
Does the data you’ve collected align with the conventions of the profile genre? How? If not, why not?
When you have completed studying the rhetorical situation of your chosen organization, write a paragraph of at least 200 words that synthesizes your understanding of the materials gathered in light of your subject’s rhetorical situation.
Step 3: Additional Research
Write another brief paragraph (at least 150 words) discussing your plan for conducting further research. Consider the questions below as you write this paragraph.
What do you still need to know to create an effective and comprehensive profile?
What other visual examples are needed?
How do you plan to get the needed information and visuals?
