This project assignment is worth a total of 100 points and is to be completed individually. It is meant to develop:
a) The ability to use generative AI (e.g., ChatGPT) and appropriately check and utilize its output
b) The ability to apply organizational theory concepts learnt in the class to real-world organizations
Background and Instructions
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, organizations faced tremendous challenges and an ever-changing environment. But
not all organizations were affected similarly by the pandemic. Some organizations faced challenges to their growth
and even their existence (e.g., Airlines, hotels, malls, cruises, etc.), while others saw an increase in the demand for
their products/services (e.g., Online meeting softwares, food delivery, online streaming, mask & sanitizer makers,
etc.). As students of organizational theory, you should be able to analyze these dynamics in the business world.
For this project:
▪ You need to choose an organization and analyze how it was affected by the pandemic-related changes,
how it dealt with these changes, and what is the way forward for it
▪ You can choose any organization (i.e., it can be a firm that was negatively or positively affected by the
pandemic-related changes). The main focus is your analysis of what happened and the way forward.
Deliverables for the Project:
You need to submit two different reports for this project, as explained below:
(a) AI-generated Initial Report:
▪ This is worth 10 points. For the organization you have chosen, use an AI tool of your choice (e.g., ChatGPT,
Bard, etc.) to generate an initial report for this project. For this, you must provide the AI tool a prompt based
on your understanding of the project instructions to generate a 2-page AI-output.
▪ You must then verify any specific claims/numbers/figures that the AI tool provides in this 2-page AI output.
For each claim/number/figure that you verify, add a comment as to whether it is accurate or not and provide
the link of the source (e.g., news article, company website, etc.) from where you verified this accuracy.
▪ Submit the prompt you used to generate the AI-report and your verified AI-report as a single-spaced word/pdf
file using the ‘Submit AI-Generated Report Here’ link under the ‘Individual Project’ Section in Blackboard
▪ This verified AI-Generated initial report is due before 11:59 pm on 1st April 2024.
(b) Student-written Final Project Report:
▪ This is worth 90 points. This report must have 5 different sections, as described on the next page. What is to
be included in each section and how it will be graded is explained in the grading rubric on the next page.
▪ In this report, you need to use and clearly highlight at least 3 class concepts to analyze how the organization
you of your choice was affected by, and dealt with, the pandemic-related changes. You can use the content
from the verified AI-generated output that you generated in the previous step to help with this report.
▪ Again, any claim/numbers/figures that you provide must have a citation and a link to the source from where
you obtained that information.
▪ The report must be 2-5 pages, single spaced. Submit it using the ‘Submit Student-written Final Project Report
Here’ link under the ‘Individual Project’ Section in Blackboard. It is due before 11:59 pm on 17th April, 2024.
