Though our textbook has a wealth of information on communication and its impact on every aspect of our lives, the information and research is static. Communication is anything but static and it is closely tied to social phenomena. As our world changes and we change through our own development, so should our communication needs, processes, challenges and solutions. Choose one of the following topics or propose a new topic and write a 2-3 page, double spaced research paper. Topics should focus on social phenomena that is connected to communication. Thus, the list of topics is quite broad as just about every social phenomena has communication as a driving force. , You will want to narrow down your research to a more concise topic after conducting preliminary research. Include 2 peer reviewed research articles, using only citations from the last 5 years. See material on finding peer reviewed articles on the course Canvas site. Also, see the information posted on how to evaluate sources of information, also posted on Canvas. Make sure to explain your reasoning behind choosing your specific topic. After reviewing, summarizing the two peer reviewed research articles, integrating models, vocabulary and ideas from the course, students should provide 2 clear suggestions or ideas for how to improve communication that will impact or relate to the social phenomena: both their own and the communication of others related to the topic of their research.
