WRITER PLEASE READ
I need your help writing my persuasive speech.
I have attached a sample speech, in note card format, The speech must be between 4-5 minutes. I expect mine to be formatted the same please.
You must have a minimum of 7 (seven) sources , and sources should be reputable! USE EBSCO AND PROQUEST FIRST, but a Google search can be handy, as well.
Each source is cited in speech and BOLDED. Please follow the sample speech provided. You list the credentials of the source, source’s name, where the source was quoted, and date. For example:
a. “According to analyst John Markoff in TIME Magazine, September 7, 2018…”
b. “As reported by the National Census Bureau on their homepage, downloaded September 10th, 2018…”
c. “Researchers Gamble and Ross state in their book The Coming Tide, 2018…”
PERSUASIVE TOPIC:
All California community college courses should use zero or low-cost textbooks.
Use research to tell us about the current problem. Inflation has taken over our economy. Many community college students face financial challenges outside of paying for course material. Share examples from research about how these realities create barriers for students being able to afford course textbooks, and how it could continue to cause problems in the future.
Use research to tell us about the cause of the problem. Discuss how our economy coming out of the pandemic resulted in inflation. Cover why the cost of living has become increasingly more expensive for the average college student, and that college costs have continued to rise.
Use research to give us a solution. What can be done to help ensure California community college instructors adopt zero or low-cost textbooks? Who should we contact to make a difference? What could be done to help ensure California faculty who teach online have the necessary skills? (Hint: research the state Chancellor’s Office for Community Colleges and the ZTC program, or zero-textbook costs).
