Assignment: Talk about your transition from high school to college. How did your
life circumstances change? How prepared did you feel going into this new
phase of your life? How prepared did you discover you actually were? In
what ways did you meet your expectations for success on your own, and
in what ways did you discover that you needed guidance? How are you
faring now? What has been the most significant change, and what is the
most significant lesson you have learned in this time period?
What I wrote:
My transition from high school to college was unconventional as I did not graduate high school. I didn’t even finish the 10th
grade. I got my GED at 22 in 2015 after having my first child and I
have been in an out of college since then trying to find the right
career path. I finally went to school full time in 2022 to become an LPN
at the age of 29. Now I am back part time at the age of 30 to continue
onto my RN.
I
did not feel prepared at all. My life had been about working for my two
kids so transitioning into a full time student was very difficult and
challenging.
I feel like I discovered I was not prepared at all for the journey but I ended up doing very well.
I don’t know how to answer the expectations question as I did not have any expectations.
I
feel like I am fairing pretty okay at the moment as this is my only
course I am taking and it make it easier to focus especially since I am
not in school full time like I was before. But it can get discouraging
sometimes.
I
have learned that I can do whatever I put effort into. I just have to
focus and use my kids as motivation in my every day life.
