In Chapter 12 you read about The Bureaucracy and the role it plays in the function of government. In this weeks written assignment you will choose a single department of the executive branch of government and investigate the questions listed below. You should spend some time on the official government page of your branch of government and some of your questions will be answered through your book.
Completion Instructions:
This assignment is an investigation of a single department of the Executive Branch of government. On page 382 there is a chart listing all of the departments that fall under the Executive Branch. You should choose a department and investigate the following questions, as well as questions you are curious about. What is the department mission, who is the cabinet secretary, how was that person appointed, are there jobs available, are there recent investigations of merit?
The assignment is to compare the powers delegated to Legislative and to the Executive Branches of government. How do these powers create balance for the citizens and how do these powers create disfunction? Could these branches of government work more together or should they be at odds with each other to best serve the citizens?
Begin this written assignment with an introduction to the topic, including a strong thesis statement. The body of the paper should clearly answer the questions identified in the assignment. The summary or conclusion should return focus to your original points laid out in the thesis. To conclude return your though to the original outlined powers a way that wraps up the points made.
