Annotated Bibliography
Overview: The annotated bibliography is a list of works on a particular topic that provides bibliography information, content information and evaluation. It serves as a research tool for the writer, readers and future writers and readers. Further, for the research component in this class, it serves as an illustration of the research that has been done on the topic you’ve chosen.
The topic you choose to research for this assignment must be connected to technology in some way. How is up to you and your choices.
The research that you do for the Annotated Bibliography is the research you will use for your Final Essay, mostly. They are connected!
The assignment:
The annotated bibliography must contain a minimum of ten sources, and each source gets its own entry.
Each entry must include proper MLA or APA documentation (like you would write for the Works Cited or References page on an essay ) for the source.
Each entry must provide an accurate and concise summary in one paragraph (100-200 words, using the strategies outlined in the previous Four Summaries assignment).
Each entry must also provide an evaluation of the source as a work of scholarship. Who is the author? The publishing house? Do you sense it’s unreasonable? How can you tell? If you can’t answer any of these, is the source any good? If the source is “not good” you still include it in the Annotated Bibliography. You might question whether you wish to use it in the essay, but that’s a different assignment.
Format
At the top of the page, title the document: Annotated Bibliography
Immediately following this, left margin justified, please include a working thesis that will identify not only the topic, but your early opinion about it, too.
Each entry should then follow, grouped together by type. (Print Books, Ebooks, Websites, Electronic Journals, Print Journals, Government Documents, etc. How you group them is up to you. I’m not looking for anything too specific.)
Double space the entire document.
One inch margins around.
Number your pages according to MLA or APA style.
Follow the examples posted to the module for Unit IV for formatting guidance.
