FINAL ESSAY PROMPT:
World history is about the nature, form, and meaning of historical interactions among peoples and places across a global scale. The many interactions and the responses to them could be cultural, social, economic, political, or militant. For some individuals and groups these interactions were opportunities to be celebrated, encouraged, and undertaken. Others saw them as threats to be resisted, avoided, or confronted.
Compose a coherent, scholarly essay in which you discuss this idea as it pertained to the last five or six centuries.●
●You are expected to build your essay with paragraphs you wrote for the course, revised and edited as needed. You need not use all your paragraphs, but be sure to address the entire period covered by this class.
NOTE: You are encouraged to contact the professor to ask questions about the exam, and you may send your thesis statement for review. Do not send drafts of the complete essay; only thesis statements will be reviewed.
STANDARDS. The essay:
◻ 1. Begins with a focused and reasoned thesis of not more than five sentences that addresses the issue.
◻ 2. Is composed with paragraphs in the form required for the paragraph assignments in this class.
◻ 3. Is between 1500 and 3000 words.
◻ 4. Is organized chronologically, balanced across the entire period.
◻ 5. Is coherent, scholarly, and shows proper writing mechanics.
◻ 6. Is followed by a list of all sources cited in the essay in the order that they were used.*
◻ 7. Is submitted as an attached MS Word file by the due date.
◻ 8. Is well-developed with abundant support while staying within the word limits.
◻ 9. Includes a main argument that is perceptive, insightful, or original.
Grading:
A: Clearly meets all nine standards.
B: Meets standards 1-7. Additionally meets Standards 8 or 9.
C: Meets standards 1-7.
D: Fails to meet one or more of Standards 1-7.
F: Fails to meet enough standards to demonstrate understanding and skills.
• The final exam is not accepted after exam grades are posted.

*WORKS CITED: Your submission must include a list of sources cited in your essay. Do not save as a separate file, but append the list as the last page of the essay document. You are not required to follow a specific style guide (e.g. MLA, APA, or Chicago Manual of Style.) You should list sources, in the order they appear in your essay, using the title provided with the source.
