All students in this course are required to conduct a case analysis on a healthcare quality related
topic of their own choice. Select a healthcare quality issue for research and resolution/plan on how to
correct it. After you have thoroughly researched the problem, you will develop the life cycle of your
quality improvement project including root cause analysis, appropriate process on how it will be
addressed, analysis tools, and an analysis of the capability and effectiveness of your solution, including
how these will be measured and reported. You will use this as a foundation to write a case study on your
project.
The following elements should be included in the paper:
1. Title page
a. Course number and title
b. Topic
c. Date
2. Executive Overview (1 paragraph)
3. Examination and analysis
a. Background of the problem
b. Quality improvement Framework
c. Stakeholders/Project Team
d. Statistical Tools
e. Implementation Strategies
4. References (at least 5 references in APA format, including intext citations throughout the
paper)
The title page and reference page are not considered to be a part of the main body of the paper. The
length of the main body of the paper must be between 2500 to 3000 words with a minimum of five
references. Sources for information include books, websites, news articles, conference proceedings,
and journal articles. Wikipedia, About.com and other opinion blogs are not acceptable sources. The
paper should follow the APA guidelines.

your textbook, material available through the library, online sources, or you can consider using one of the
