1. CoverSheet
2. 10%. A current photograph of you & Introduction to the paper (1/2 page) Why? This paper is a resource for you and I want this paper to be something you keep and look back at often throughout your life and career. Your introduction should be a strong, cohesive, and compelling introduction to your paper.
3. 10%. Cashman Leadership Mastery Assessment. (~one page, excluding graphic)
We used Kevin Cashman’s work to reflect on eight areas of leadership mastery. We also did experiments on your ability to handle conflict (part of interpersonal mastery) and your personal power (also part of interpersonal mastery and being mastery). Reflect on where you are right now in mastering each of these areas, what growth/insights you have observed over this term, what you have learned about yourself with respect to each. Be specific and connect the material to your leadership. Then complete the graphic rating yourself and answer the three questions below. The graphic is posted in your course home. I have attached a sample of what yours might look like. You need to rate yourself on each of the eight areas.
a) On the Mastery Assessment graph rate each of the eight on a scale of 1 to 5, with 1 being “awful” and “5” being “outstanding—you have it nailed.” The PowerPoint slide with the graphic is posted in Week 14. Right-click on the chart, choose the ‘Edit Data’, and the chart will open to a different excel file. Rate yourself by editing the opened spreadsheet. Upon completing, be sure to save/close the MS Excel document and copy the PowerPoint slide to your paper. Make sure that the data you input is reflected in the chart below. Again, this is just a sample.
b) Discuss your highest level of mastery and why that is your highest? Provide specific examples. What strides did you make this term?
c) Describe your lowest and why? What shadow/limiting beliefs might be operating? Be specific, so that when you read this paper three years from now, you will know what you are talking about. What are the implications of your self- assessment for you as you think about your future goals?
d) What is one concrete action you can take to strengthen and sustain your highest area? What is one concrete action you can take to increase your lowest areas? (Be specific. When someone else watches you, they should agree that you have done it. What will they see or hear?)
4. 5%. Leadership Values and Principles. (~1 page)
What are your leadership values and principles? Write a personal story that illustrates one of your values. What commitments will you make to ensure that you will put your leadership values and principles in to practice as you lead others? What will be your signals that you are going off course?
5. 10%. Analysis of Weekly Insights. (~1/2 page-1 page)
Analyze your weekly ahas/insights and the goals you set and tracked. Summarize the themes or patterns you noticed in your insights and goal setting and how and why this knowledge is useful to your ongoing leadership development.
6. 5%UniqueStrengths(~1/2page-1page)
What are your unique strengths that will contribute to your leadership success?Write two to three paragraphs summarizing what you have learned about yourself, in your own words. Consult your StrengthsFinder results, and avoid strengths speak. If someone asked you, what strengths to you bring to this job—how would you answer? Look back at your Strengths Based Activity Statements for guidance. How will you develop these strengths?
7. 20%. Immediate Development Work (~2 pages)
Based on all that you have learned about yourself this term, what is the one big thing, that if you focus on, will significantly advance and accelerate your leadership effectiveness?
Why is this important to you?
What key steps or approaches will you take to achieving this one big thing
(consider new practices, habits, or shifts in thinking).
What is one specific behavior will you do more of or start doing that will
reflect your new approach?
What is one specific behavior that you will do less of or stop doing?
How specifically will you track your progress?
8. 15% Goals and action plan (~1 -2 pages)
Consult your life story graphic from Week 1, and either add a new path at the top that extends five years in to the future or create a new graphic. Note major milestones, events and changes in your path that must be included to fill your vision of the future. Include your new life graphic as an appendix to this paper. Write three to four paragraphs describing your vision of your future, the development gaps you must close, and the milestones along the way.
• What must you be doing a year from now in order to be on track toward your long-term vision? How will you measure success?
• What must be in place three months from now to be on track for your one- year goal? How will you measure success?
• What action steps must you begin taking TOMORROW to meet your three- month goals? How will you hold yourself accountable?
9. 5%.Finalreflections(~1/2-1page)
Which of the areas covered in this class have affected you most? Describe what you learned, why it was important to you and how it has changed the way you lead or plan to lead someday? Include three (3) substantial commitments you will make to you carry this learning forward.
