Re-read Chapter 6 of the course textbook. Review the five major philosophies influential in our system of schooling. Consider whether you lean more toward a student-centered or teacher-centered philosophy. Think about the aspects of each major philosophy as you decide which best reflects or supports your personal viewpoints about teaching and learning.
Write a paper that clearly articulates your emerging philosophical outlook. Address each question in the outline below.
Use information from the course textbook as a foundation for your responses. Integrate terms, ideas, concepts, and principles from the text to support your beliefs. See suggested chapters in the outline. Clearly present your selected philosophy throughout your paper. Each of the four sections of your paper should include at least one brief quote from the textbook to support your ideas. Paraphrased portions should also be included. Use only the textbook for this paper. No other sources are allowed.
Your paper should be written in APA Style 7th edition for student papers. Use the APA resources provided by your professor. Use formal academic language. Your paper should be in the range of three to four pages long (not counting the title and reference pages).
Do not use work from another course for assignments in this course. If you are repeating this course, or if you have done a similar project for another course, be aware you are not allowed to use work from another course for assignments in this course. This would be self-plagiarism and treated as academic dishonesty.
Check your Turnitin similarity report following your submission. Your instructor may set a specific similarity (and/or AI) percentage at which your assignment will receive a provisional 0 grade. Your instructor may allow a revision. If so, it will count at reduced credit determined by your instructor.
