To
accurately access, and display your understanding of the material covered in
this course, I couldn’t think of a better, more fun way than to create
something. Since this is a film course, let’s create something film related!
There
are 2 parts to this assignment, a project, and a paper
Project:
1.
Write a 10 -page
screenplay
1.
Again, see the
“References” section for screenwriting programs and format support.
2.
Adheres to industry
standard screenwriting format.
3.
Adheres to three act
structure. Unless otherwise noted in your paper.
· If choosing a non-conventional approach, a defense of this
creative decision must be made in the paper portion of the final project.
· Main protagonist goes through some sort of transformation
from beginning to end of the screenplay.
Paper:
This
is not a film production class, therefore there is one more component to this
final project. You will need to write a 3- page 750 – paper
discussing the ways in which you will convey, or have communicated the major
message or themes of your project. Your paper should include sections
containing the following:
1.
State your intended
theme or message.
2.
What genre is your
project?

Which genre conventions
help you to communicate your central theme or message?
3.
How did you use
filmmaking tools to communicate your theme or message? (Minimum of 3)
4.
o
Cinematography
§ Camera movement, framing, lighting, etc.
o
Performance
§ Casting choices (Type, gender, race, celebrity status, etc)
o
Production
§ Locations, set design, wardrobe, makeup, etc.
o
Sound
§ Music, sound design, etc.
o
Editing

Self Review: How
successful do you think you were in communicating your central theme or
message? What would or could you have done differently?
6.
Are there any unintended
messages you communicated and didn’t notice until after you finished the
project?
