In this course, you will complete a paper in which you write a description of your favorite teacher (or person in a related teaching capacity, such as a coach, tutor, etc.) and demonstrate that you understand your educational lives are full of past experiences that connect directly to key educational psychology concepts and theories.
You will describe how the teacher taught and might also include some specific examples of classroom interactions you had with that teacher, then connect those prior experiences with that teacher to concepts and content you learn in this course. Your paper should include information from your past experiences and explain how they connect to psychological concepts and theories. What grade and/or subject did your favorite person teach? What were some of the attributes of this teacher that made this individual an effective teacher?
Content Guidelines
Write your paper using first person narrative, so that you will describe attributes, qualities, and experiences about your favorite teacher in your own words, but everything that you choose to share should connect to educational psychology concepts that are presented in this course.
In your paper, you must include at least five (5) concepts/theories of educational psychology. As you are describing your prior experiences with your favorite teacher, you must connect those experiences to each of these concepts. To earn full credit you must thoroughly and clearly explain the connection between your narrative and the psychology concepts/theories. You must demonstrate that you both understand the concepts you are connecting to your experiences and can explain that understanding clearly and correctly.
Do not use the teacher’s real name, but instead alter the identifying information so that the person retains anonymity.
Due to the breadth of this assignment, please work on this paper as we cover the assigned chapters throughout the course. You are welcome to include concepts and topics from chapters of the textbook that we do not cover in class, but remember to put all of these ideas you present into your own words. This is the best way to show me that you understand the concepts/theories. Do not directly quote the textbook or any other source.
