Assignment is a research paper that will act as capstone project for Business in Security Management degree. Topic is in Emergency Management. I have uploaded a document outlining the paper. The instructor helped me out with picking a topic. Below is his email as an idea of the topic:
Would something like this work? Identify 3 or 4 elements of EM (maybe things like prevention, planning, response, education, equipment, communications, etc.) (you would know what type of elements better than I do). Then compare those elements in the miliary versus the private sector. How do companies perform EM compared to the way its done in the military. Evaluate the pros and cons of each. Then find lessons that can be learned from one sector and transferred to the other (and vice versa).
As an alternative (or an add-on to the above), you could track the history of EM in the US in terms of technology, techniques and methodologies. Use this information to project what the future might look like (technologies, techniques and methodologies).

Performing Emergency Management in the U.S. Military differs greatly
versus the private sector. How do they differ and what are the impacts of those
differences? This paper will examine and compare the differences in emergency
planning, response, and education, the impacts of those differences, and the
lessons learned taken from each.
*You can chose 3-4 of the emergency management elements that were listed above. It does not have to be emergency planning, resposne, and education.*
Instructor advised us to include:
-historical perspective to set the tone and where youre coming from.
– scenarios (case studies and examples)
– debates (quotes or paraphrases of credible authorities)
Advised to use the following academic journal sites: LPM, SIA, Asis, NFPA, Infra guard, IFPO.
Need at least 12 sources with 5 being primary sources and at least 2 peer reviewed or academic sources.
