Overview
Part of your role as an Industrial and Organizational Psychology professional is to translate information to the appropriate level. You may find yourself sharing high level statistics or theories with an audience that only cares about the bottom line – in other words, you’ll need to help your audience understand why something matters, often in the absence of a full understanding of the research basis for conclusions. This is challenging!
One way to provide this information concisely is to use a visual presentation, such as an infographic. The purpose of an infographic is to explain content in a visual form, without the need to provide additional follow up descriptions in subsequent paragraphs. In other words, the visual representation conveys key themes, theories and ideas. In recent years, more humor has been integrated into sharing I-O psychology information (e.g.,memes, vlogs), which has allowed a broader audience to gain exposure to our research.
Instructions
Your assignment this week is to use your reflections from the Discussion: Analyzing Thought Leadership to create an engaging infographic explaining leadership to a non I-O psychology audience. You do not need additional explanatory text outside the infographic. The reader should be able to understand the theory and application points by reviewing onlythe infographic.
Specifically, your infographic should contain the following components:
1. An overall theme focused on “what makes a leader successful in a remote environment?”
2. Theoretical basis and support for ideas (minimum of 3 scholarly sources in APA format), including citations for resources used in the infographic.
3. Original ideas extending theory to a remote workforce.
4. Focus on sharing the information as thought leadership (remember that although your target audience is not necessarily in this field, you may have viewers who are well informed I-O scholars).
5. Engaging graphic content within one page. Note that references must be within this one-page limit.
You do not need to pay for any content used in this assignment. There are free platforms, such as Canva, which can be used for creating infographic content. You can also use programs, such as PowerPoint, for infographic content.
