Part I- Please use the template attached to complete assignment.
For Part I, you will narrow down your research interests into a refined research question and going through the following steps: Research Questions are listed below. The Topic is obesity.
Step 1
During Unit 3, you narrowed down your research interests to write your annotated bibliography by reviewing the data about health issues in your county from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF) County Health Rankings & Roadmaps. Using this information, pick two topics you could continue researching.
Step 2
What exposures, diseases and populations you are interested in studying relating to your topic? Exposures might include socioeconomic status, health behaviors, health status, or environmental exposures. Diseases include those that are communicable or noncommunicable, neuropsychiatric or related to an injury. Examples of populations could be children, teachers, women, or members of a group like LGBTQI+ or a minority population.
Step 3
Once you have determined the exposures, diseases and populations you are interested in studying, you will need to write a refined research question. This is done by combining these three elements into a question you can answer through research.
Research Question 1:
What are the main epidemiological trends and patterns of obesity globally, and how do these trends vary across different populations and demographic groups?
Research Question 2:
What are the underlying physiological and molecular mechanisms linking obesity to the development of type 2 diabetes, and how do these mechanisms inform potential interventions and treatments for both conditions?
Part II
Once you have written your refined research question, you will need to determine which study design will be best for completing your research. Throughout the Unit 4 and 5 Readings, you have learned about the different types of study design. Choose at least two different study designs and apply them to your research question following the example in the template.
Use the Grounded Theory Study Design to answer your research question and discuss why using evidence from your reading. Discuss the benefits of using your chosen study design over any others.
