Each student will create a contemporary example of a forgery.
The forgery example will be at most one-page in length. Students can choose the topic and country targeted. They can also choose the type of document that is forged. It can be a fake email, text, memo, letter or other relevant document. (The example should include a Watermark or other note to highlight that this is an educational assignment. If your example is in a foreign language, an English translation should be provided.)
The forgery should be related to a contemporary international political issue. Some outside research will be needed but the forgery should be based on information and examples in the assigned course readings and class discussion.
In addition to the forgery example, students will provide a separate, brief explanatory note (2 pages max) on the plan to have the forgery surface and the intended effect. This should include:
1) Identifying who would have created/is behind the forgery;
2) the timing of the release;
3) the source where the forgery will surface;
4) the target audience;
5) the intended effect of the forgery; and
6) why this item would be believable/plausible and hard to debunk.
