Attached to this email is the final dataset for the snail brain practical. As you all attended at least 2 lab classes, you are entitled to use this large dataset.
What is contained in the Excel spreadsheet
I have topped the numbers up with cells from previous years so we have n=30 cells for each drug. This allows for good statistical comparisons to be made.
Each cell is a complete dataset (before drug/control, drug, and washout). Please plot all three conditions in your lab report, and think about what sort of stats test will allow you to compare the same cell across 3 conditions. Also a reminder that you need to look at all three drugs in your lab report too.
Note that the number of cells where input resistance was recorded is very small – again, it’s up to you how to use these data.
The ‘basic cell characteristics’ page contains cells where drugs were not added – you may want to consider using these data in your comparisons with the LabAxon action potential. There are quite a few input resistance measurements on this page so again think of how you might be able to report this.
Everything else you need to complete this write-up is on Minerva (in the lab report template or additional documents, including a sample paper) – otherwise you’ll need to do some extra searching and use your judgement. Finally, remember to look at your feedback from last semester’s lab report!
