Chapter 6

Chapter 7

Chapter 8
8. The term “model minority” is sometimes used to refer to the Asian American community. What does it mean and why is this a problematic argument?
9. Sue (2010) focused on three forms of microagressions, toward an individual’s race, gender and sexual orientation, that harm women, persons of color, and the LGBTQ community. Discuss ways in which you have experienced microagressions or situations in which you were the microaggressor.
10. The dominant group sees itself as the superior group and the conquered group as the inferior group, therefore the dominant group presents itself as the better equipped and genetically superior to rule. Of the various discussion in Chapter 8 on studying African American, Mexican, and Chinese experiences in America, present challenges, or support to the Whites’ assertion of genetic superiority and natural gift to rule.
