This is an assignment for you to explore issues of ethics in the context of specific organizations. You will conduct an interview with a person who is already in a professional working in your field (e.g., preschool teacher, principal, social worker, home visitor, and etc). Then you will write up a paper to report and reflect on your interview. (3 pages)
List the questions you asked on the first page of the document. You can, but iare not required to include notes or answers from the interviewee. Remember you need to ask enough direct questions in order to address the prompts listed in part B. (10 pts)
Share the followong:
Brief description of the interviewee: the interviewee’s current position, educational background, and years of experience in this profession.
Brief description of the organization: the size, nature, and goals of the professional organization; the interviewee’s involvement in the organization (e.g., with the colleagues, director, and etc) and knowledge of the code of professional ethics adopted in the organization.
Ethical dilemmas faced on the job. Please ask the interviewee to describe one specific ethical dilemma/problem that he/she has encountered before and include this specific dilemma/problem here. What was his/her decision on this dilemma? How did he/she make such decision? Was the decision made out of emotions, personal virtues, or based on code of professional ethics?
Your reflection (at least 1 page). What did you learn from the interview? What are the biggest challenges in terms of making ethical decisions as in your interviewee’s position? What are the strengths and virtues did you observe from the interviewee? What are things that you would like to change or improve if you are in his/her position? If you acted as in your own character, what decision would you make for that specific moral dilemma/problem? Why? If you acted out of your own character, what decision would you make? Why?
