Mrs. M emigrated from India with her husband 20 years ago. They have three grown children. Mrs. M was referred for services by her primary care physician, who was worried about her depression and stress, caused primarily because her mother in India had just been turned down for a second green card and visa. Mrs. M’s mother had lived with them when the children were teenagers and had returned to India without renewing her green card. Mrs. M was alternately angry with her mother over her negligence and worried about how she could take care of her now.
Now, select a counseling or theoretical framework and briefly describe how you would apply the selected framework to the case study. Discuss any ethical or legal principles that could impact your approach to this case.

Implementing Theoretical Frameworks in Case Management
In addition to providing self-disclosure to promote client change, human service professionals apply counseling frameworks in therapy to purposefully shape how they work with clients. Some examples of counseling frameworks include cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), cultural/environmental context therapy (CEC), feminist therapy, Gestalt therapy, and multicultural counseling therapy (MCT).
These therapeutic frameworks use similar basic skills but provide research-based support for their use. For example, professionals use cognitive behavioral therapy when they want to help clients change their thought processes about an issue. They use cultural/environmental therapy when a client’s experiences are a result of their cultural or environmental surroundings. Feminist therapy focuses on assessing women’s issues and approaches to resolving the issues. Over the past decade, crisis counseling has become a very important form of therapeutic counseling. This technique uses the five stages of counseling, where safety is the most important for the client. You will have the opportunity to test these techniques and apply the communication skills you have learned over the last six weeks in your second partner assignment.
In this module, you will prepare for your final project submission by outlining and then drafting your presentation. You will select the technology you will use and then develop the presentation. Present information in small chunks so that the audience understands the issue clearly. Feel free to include audio and/or video to support your presentation.
Be as creative as you want, but your presentation must fit your audience and must include the critical elements noted within the Final Project Guidelines and Rubric.
