You are a contraception expert and have been invited to present a talk on a contraceptive of your choice at a human sexuality conference. Sounds fun, right? Get prepared as you step into the role of an expert in the field of human sexuality!
Your task at hand is to create an informative lecture with an accompanying PowerPoint. Designing your presentation will require that you know your material well and present it in a way that is verbally and visually educational.
As you prepare your talk and PowerPoint presentation do the following:
1. Ten slides: Prepare ten slides with brief bullet points or brief statements (Note: Slide1 is the title slide, slides 2-9 are content slides, and slide 10 is the reference slide). Do NOT write your lecture on the slides (see #2 for info on your lecture).
2. Written lecture OR audio recording: For every single slide, including the title slide, provide either a written transcript of your talk in the notes area beneath each slide, or an audio recording for each slide. If you choose to provide a written transcript of your lecture simply type exactly what you would say to your audience in the notes area beneath each slide (DO NOT type your lecture on the slides). If you choose to do an audio recording, while on each slide of your PowerPoint, simply click on Insert, Audio, and Record, and then record what you plan to say to your audience for each slide (after you’re done recording, an audio button will appear on the slide; see tips below on how to do this in PowerPoint).
3. Scientific research: In addition to your textbook,find at least one professional journal article from the FSW online library and share what current research has to say about contraception (see Tip section below on how to access professional journal articles from the FSW online library).
4. Important info: Include (1) a brief discussion about the responsibility of contraception (why it’s important to be responsible, and who is responsible), (2) how the contraceptive you have chosen to talk about is used, and (3) details on its effectiveness, advantages, and disadvantages.
5. Visuals: At least five content slides (slides 2-9) should be accompanied with a visual that captures the content on that slide.
6. References: The last slide of your presentation should identify a minimum of two references written in APA format. Your references should include one professional journal articles and your textbook, as well as any other source that you learned from while creating your presentation (see tips below on how to write references using APA-formatting)
