Follow the steps below to search for these Resources and save them to access later.
Go to Discover DeWitt – this single search interface will help you find books and articles on your research topic. You will need to apply different strategies to find the different types of resources.
First search for books or ebooks you would use if you were going to write a research paper on the question you turned in on week 1.

Assignment Instructions:
1. List the Final Research Question you developed and had approved in week 1 of the course.( written below/ adhd )
2. Find and list the keywords contained within the question. Hint: these are the words you will use to search our database for books and articles on your topic. They are the terms or concepts within your question that are “key” to finding relevant information.
3. List any synonyms or alternate terms that may help you find results when you search for information on your topic. Think “avian flu” for “bird flu” or “global warming” for “climate change”. Remember, you may have a lot of these, or there may be very few. Each research question is unique.

Investigating gender disparities in ADHD
Question 3: What are some potential questions (2-3) that could logically be asked in relation
to your narrow topic? HINT: Again, use your background information search to help you
here. This is an academic environment, so your questions should be academic in nature, not
easily answered with a sentence or word (If you are not sure about what an academic
question is, you will find a list of examples of academic questions in the Module 1 Reading).
How do gendered biases regarding boys and girls influence the recognition of ADHD? What kind
of changes should be introduced at the level of diagnostic criterion or screening tools to address
the possible gender-based differences? To what degree do the gender biases of clinicians,
educators, and parents influence their diagnoses of ADHD among boys versus girls?
Question 4: Which question are you most interested in? Be sure to focus it, if necessary.
This will be your proposed final version of the question you will work with over the next few
weeks.
As my final focused version, I propose: “To what extent do doctors, guidance, and parents’ gender
biases influence the ADHD diagnosis process in boys compared to girls, and what could be the
recommendations in assessments and criteria to avoid gender-based disparities?” This question
with a narrow goal will ensure the inquiry relates to the whole issue of gender biases in diagnosis,
not only concentrating on it but also aiming to illustrate systemic gaps to find solutions to the

revealed disparities. This question displays a purposefulness in maintaining the focus of the
research in view and accordingly, the investigation may be directed toward solving the biases in
diagnosis by incorporating measures that may lessen or eliminate the disparity.
