Write a formal persuasive proposal addressing a need (or a problem) on campus, your community or in the public schools. This proposal should revolve around an “education” topic (about what’s going on in education, a need on college campuses, a major problem in public schools that needs to be solved – then offer the solution). Your primary audience will be the decision makers that are in a position to address the problem you have identified. Other members of your audience will probably include other members of the community and other administrators, managers, or committee members. Keep the attitudes and interests of your entire audience in mind.
The audience and context you are addressing in the proposal is your choice, just be sure there is a clearly defined problem you are addressing through your proposal.
Try to make your proposal as persuasive, believable, complete, and professional as possible. Your ability to demonstrate that you can write an effective proposal can only enhance your career options.
This report should contain at least 3 FULL pages of discussion. This report should be put in MLA format. In all, this report will end up being 8 pages long. Relax! These are short pages except for the discussion section.

Proposal
A proposal is a persuasive document that sells the idea or service you are proposing. Proposals may be unsolicited or requested, internal or external.
Organize your proposal clearly (use a Table of Contents), and if you’re using more than five visuals, include a List of Illustrations or Figures. Typical Organization Plans include this 8 page format:
Title page (1 page)
Title of proposal
Your name
Your audience’s name (who you are submitting this to – and it’s not me!) ☺
Date on which the proposal was completed
Table of contents (1 page – label TABLE OF CONTENTS)
Provide complete, clear listing of contents.
Your first item on your table of contents will be your INTRODUCTION.
Introduction (Purpose and Problem) – (1/2 page to a page – label INTRODUCTION) This is PAGE #1.
Purpose – in one to three sentences, tell your readers the reason for your proposal (explain why you are writing and what you hope to achieve)
Problem or Need
Clearly state the problem (and reveal your knowledge of the situation through background information, context, or research). 1) problem necessitating the proposal, b) your suggested solution, and 3) the benefits derived when your proposal is implemented.
Highlight the importance of your proposal.
Discussion (3 FULL pages with headings and illustrations as needed – label DISCUSSION)
Sell your product, service, or suggested solution. (ethos, pathos logos in all sections)
Provide many reasons for this proposal with sufficient support and elaboration on how to make it possible (solution)
Provide any or all of the following components:
Describe proposed work or action
Options
Give support from additional research
Method or Procedure
Conclusion/recommendations (1/2 page to a page – label Conclusion or Recommendations)
Sum up your proposal and provide a sense of closure (ethos, pathos logos)
If appropriate restate the problem, your solution, and the probable benefits

Make sure to use standard citation format consistently and accurately in MLA format
Appendix (if included at the end, label APPENDIX)

The information in an appendix should not be of primary importance (if it is, it should be in the body of the proposal). The appendix is designed for extra or supplementary information.
