This is the stuff you don’t read when you “agree” to the Terms and Conditions that give you access to all the superhero movies and music you can handle. Please do not gloss over these criteria, as the meeting of each requirement is very much connected to your success in this assignment.
Your grade will be based on a combination of the following factors:
Obvious use of copious primary evidence (we will be discussing Primary Evidence in the second half of this module).
Integration of secondary research. You must find on your own at least TWO scholarly secondary sources and use them within your essay to elevate your reading of your representative example. In addition to sources you discover through your own research, your paper must incorporate John Seely Brown and Paul Duguid’s “The Social Life of Documents” as a secondary source (we will be discussing Secondary and Scholarly Sources in Module 9).
Comprehension of key concepts, texts, and theorists.
Scope and originality of research and/or creative work.
Your analysis (e.g., avoidance of fallacies, such as hasty generalizations)
The presentation and structure of your argument. Before submitting your research essay you should be able to answer YES to each of the following questions:
Does the thesis contain an interpretive claim?
Does the thesis contain a statement of significance?
Do the body paragraphs contain strong topic sentences that offer a claim?
Do the body paragraphs contain a clear transition that shows its relationship to the paragraph that comes before it?
Do the body paragraphs provide textual support (evidence) for the claim?
Does the author explain the quotations, telling the reader not only what is said in the quotes, but also showing how the quotation works to support the claim of the paragraph?
Does the author provide interesting, engaging readings of the text?
Does the conclusion do more than summarize what the paper has already done?
Does the conclusion return to the controversy defined in the introduction in order to develop the implications of the essay?
The quality of your writing (spelling, grammar, diction, style, etc.)
Proper referencing such as consistent and proper use of parenthetical citations and bibliographies in either APA or MLA style (we will be covering citation and citation styles in Module 12).
Proper formatting such as page numbers, line spacing, etc. (we will be covering this in Module 12 as well).
Untitled 7 is the essay if you rewrite it into one that fits all the requirements.
