It is straightforward to join via email or using your cell phone. The App works on computers, tablets, and smartphones. The idea is to have a real-time collaboration.

Please carefully follow the following steps:

    1. You need to join our GroupMe account.

    2. Ask someone to be your partner. Your group should not have more than 3 or less than 2 students.

    3. Once you have your team formed, you will, with your partners), choose a human genetic disease to work on.

    4. Do some literature search using Google Scholar. To find relevant scientific articles on the human genetic disease you chose.

    5. Find and present specific facts about that disease. More specifically, provide genetic and phenotypic facts in relation to that disease, including giving the name of the gene responsible for the disease and how the disease is typically expressed in the patient. Are there multiple forms of the same genetic disease? Be as descriptive as possible.

    6. Find the DNA sequence of the gene responsible for the disease. In doing so, contrast the normal version of the gene with the mutated form of the gene at both the DNA sequence level and the amino acid level, In other words, find the defect at the DNA level and that is responsible for the disease and find the amino acid sequence of the normal and the amino acid sequence of the defective protein.

    7. Is the mutated gene responsible for the disease regulated in a healthy human subject? If so, what is that regulator, and what does it do? How does it do it? For your information, almost all genes found in our genome are regulated. Therefore, you will likely find a regulator for the gene of interest in the disease you chose to work on.

    8. Finally, submit your work on Canvas under Module 3, Genetic Disease Project.

This project is worth 120 points. It is due on 04/14/24 at 11:59 pm. Each student has to submit their gre individually so that you can all have a submission. But for a given group, your content should be the same
