Project 3: Solution Proposal ________________________________________ Your final major project for ENG 112 builds on the work you did for the first two projects. You will propose a solution to the work-related problem you identified. To make an effective proposal, you will need to identify all the audiences who have a stake in the issue, so you can provide the necessary persuasive evidence. You will have to present a strong, well-researched argument to convince your audiences that your proposal should be adopted and implemented. Why am I making you write a proposal? What’s the point of the assignment? While you may write some proposals in classes, you’ll almost certainly write some form of proposal in your career, especially as you move up the metaphorical ladder at your organization. If you go into business for yourself, you will write a ton of proposals for different purposes. You may end up writing to propose a new organizational structure at work, to propose a business idea in order to get a bank loan, or to propose a research project to secure grant funding. And that’s just a few of the types of proposals you may end up writing one day. For Project 3: Solution Proposal: • Use APA style formatting and documentation. • Provide evidence from at least four peer-reviewed academic sources to support your argument for this particular solution. (Feel free to dip into your Literature Review.) • Include an abstract. (see pp. 79-82 in LSH) • Audience: as identified by your Audience Worksheet • Purpose: to argue for a solution to a problem in order to convince a specific audience to accept and implement your solution • Scope: 800 – 1000 words (no more, no less) [NOTE: Your title page and reference list do not count toward the minimum word count.]
